This guide walks you through assembling the D3 Pro system, connecting all required peripherals, and completing the initial setup for use with joe Point of Sale.
1. Gather All Components
Open the D3 Pro box and verify that the following items are included:
- D3 Pro unit
- D3 Pro base plate
- D3 Pro power supply
- D3 Pro screw/tool bag (contains at least four screws)
- Stripe M2 card reader
- Star Printer & RJ11 cord (Star-brand only)
- Star Cash Drawer & RJ11 cord (Star-brand models only)

2. Prepare for Assembly
- Place the D3 Pro face down on a clean, stable surface with the screen protected (use a soft cloth or foam padding under the display.)
- Position the base plate on the bottom of the D3 Pro, aligning the screw holes.
- Secure the base plate using the provided screws. Tighten firmly, but do not overtighten.
4. Lift the D3 Pro upright and place it on the counter or POS stand.
3. Connect Power & Cables to the D3 Pro

Tilt the screen back and remove the front cover panel (a small flathead screwdriver may help).
- Route the silver 4-Pin Mini-DIN end of the power cord underneath the base.
- Connect the 4-Pin Mini-DIN plug into the D3 Pro power port.
- Plug the opposite end into an AC outlet.
5. Press the power button on the right side of the stand.
4. Connect the D3 Pro to Wi-Fi
- From the Home Screen, open the Settings app.
- Go to Network & Internet → Internet.
- Select your Wi-Fi network, enter the password, and connect.
- The Wi-Fi icon will appear at the top when connected.
5. Connect & Pair the Stripe M2 Card Reader

- Remove the Stripe M2 reader, USB cord, and dock from the boxes.

Connect the USB-A end of the cable to an available USB port under the D3 Pro base.
- Insert the USB-C plug into the Stripe reader (you should hear a beep).
- A pop-up will appear on the D3 Pro: “Open joe OS to handle STRMXXXXX” → Select Always → OK.
- Open the joe App → Gear icon → Settings → Card Readers → Reader M2 USB → Add Card Reader.
- Confirm the STRM number matches the one on the reader, then tap Pair. Status will show Connected.

Slide the reader into the dock and replace the front cover panel.
⚠️ Important: The Stripe reader must stay connected to the D3 Pro to remain charged.

6. Connect & Pair the Star Printer
Printer Components (USB-A to USB-B Cable & Star Printer)

Plug the USB-A side of the cable into the D3 Pro.

Plug the USB-B side into the bottom of the Star printer.
- Connect the printer power cable and plug into an AC outlet.
- Turn on the printer using the switch on the left side.
- Insert a roll of thermal paper.
- A pop-up will appear: “Open joe OS to handle Star TSPXXXX” → Select Always → OK.
- In joe OS → Settings → Printers → Add Printer → USB Printer → 80mm → Add Printer.
- Optional: Add tasks such as Receipt, Item Ticket, Open Cash Drawer, Cash Till Report, End of Night Report, etc., under Add Task.
- Test the printer: tap the three dots (⋮) above the printer image → Print. Status should show Connected.

7. Connect the Star Cash Drawer
Cash Drawer & Cord
- Place the cash drawer on the counter.
- Connect the RJ11 cable:
- Printer end → connects under the printer

Cash Drawer end → connects under the cash drawer
- Secure extra cable under the drawer.
- Enable automatic drawer opening: joe OS → Settings → Features → Open Cash Drawer Automatically.
- Verify functionality: joe App → Printers → ⋮ → Open Drawer.
