Hardware Requirements

To enable automatic cash drawer opening, ensure you have the following Star-compatible hardware:

• Star Printer
• RJ11 Cord — Star-brand only

• Star Cash Drawer — only Star-brand drawers are compatible

⚙️ Setup Instructions

1. Connect Hardware

1. Connect the Printer Cable to the printer.
2. Connect the Printer to your POS device using USB, Bluetooth (BT), or Ethernet — depending on your setup.
3. Connect the Cash Drawer Cable (RJ11) to the cash drawer port on the Star printer.
4. Ensure all connections are secure before proceeding.

2. Configure the Joe App

1. Open the Joe App on your device.
2. Navigate to Settings → Features.
3. Enable the following options:
   • ✅ Open Cash Drawer Automatically
   • ✅ Require Active Cash Till
4. Tap the three-dot (…) menu and select:
5. Test Print and Open Drawer — this verifies that the connection works.

3. Configure from Printer Task

You can also configure the printer task to “Open Cash Drawer” directly.
Once enabled, your cash drawer will automatically open whenever a cash transaction is processed through the Joe App.
