Yes, you can connect two printers to your Joe device. By renaming each printer and assigning specific print tasks, you can streamline your operations—for example, sending all drink orders to the printer by your espresso bar and food orders to the printer in your kitchen.
If you're using two or more Star Micronics Bluetooth printers, we recommend renaming them using the Star Settings Utility mobile app. This ensures that your device can correctly identify each printer and send orders to the appropriate one.
Step 1: Rename Your Printer
To avoid confusion between printers with identical default names, follow these steps to rename each printer:
-
Download the Star Settings Utility App
Install the free Star Settings Utility mobile app on your iOS, Android, or Joe device. -
Connect the Printer via Bluetooth
- Press and hold the red Pair button on the back of the printer for 5 seconds.
- On your device, go to Bluetooth Settings, then tap on "Star Micronics" in the list of available devices to pair.
-
Rename the Printer
- Open the Star Settings Utility app. Your connected printer should appear as "Star Micronics".
- Use the app to rename the printer to something meaningful (e.g., "Espresso Bar Printer" or "Kitchen Printer").
- Restart the printer to save the updated name.
-
Disconnect from Bluetooth (if needed)
If the printer was paired with a device other than your Joe tablet, disconnect it from Bluetooth before proceeding.
Step 2: Connect to Your Joe Device
- Open Settings on your Joe device and connect the renamed printer via Bluetooth.
- Open the Joe Merchant Plus app:
- Tap the gear icon (⚙️) to access Settings.
- Navigate to Printers > Find Printer.
- Under Nearby Printers, tap Add Printer.
Step 3: Assign Print Tasks
- For each connected printer, tap Add Task to assign what type of ticket or receipt it should print.
- Choose the Task Type:
-
Item Ticket:
- Select Ticket Type: Individual or Merged.
- Choose the Categories (e.g., Drinks, Food) that should be printed on this printer.
-
Receipt:
- Choose the paper size: 80mm or 57mm based on your printer.
- Adjust accordingly and tap Save.
-
Item Ticket:
- You can add multiple tasks to each printer for different receipt or ticket types per order.
Step 4: Test Your Printer Setup
To confirm your settings are working properly:
- Go to the Order Status screen in the Joe Merchant Plus app.
- Tap a customer’s profile, scroll to a recent order, and tap Print Receipt.
- Select the items to reprint and verify that the correct printer is used.
