Fees Statement
Every charge in one place — processing, Program Contributions, and platform fees — with reimbursements shown so you can see both your gross charges and your net platform cost.
Worked example (one month):
- Processing: $2,225.96 (2.6% of card volume $61,767.80 + $0.10 × 6,200 orders)
- Program Contributions: $2,600.00 (8% of Program Transaction Volume $32,500.00)
- Platform fees: $349.00
- Total charges: $5,174.96
A memo line then shows reimbursements received ($1,889.80), giving you a net platform cost of $3,285.16. Both figures are kept and clearly labeled, since gross charges and net cost answer different questions.
- Processing applies to the full charged amount, including sales tax and tips — this is standard card-network practice.
- Program Contributions, by contrast, are calculated on a base that excludes tips and gift-card loads.
FAQ
Why is processing charged on tips and tax?
Card networks charge fees on the total amount that moves through the card, regardless of what it's for. This is industry-standard and applies across all payment types.
Why don't contributions apply to tips?
Tips belong to your staff, so they're never part of any fee base. Gift-card loads are excluded too — a load is just a liability movement, not a sale. The purchase itself, when it eventually happens, counts normally.
