joe Gift Cards provide independent coffee shops with a powerful, all-in-one rewards and gift card solution. Customers can purchase physical gift cards, redeem them in-store, or link balances to their Rewards profile for digital payments. Shop owners gain seamless tools to manage transactions and customer relationships.

Purchasing Gift Cards
Baristas can sell either a single gift card or multiple cards in one transaction.
Individual Gift Card Purchases
- Tap the Gift Card icon (top right of the menu screen).
- Select Purchase Physical Gift Cards → Individual Purchase.
- Swipe the card using the reader or manually enter the 12-digit code.
- Enter the desired value and tap Finish.
- Complete checkout.
Bulk Gift Card Purchase (Up to 10 Cards)
When customers want to buy more than one gift card, the Bulk Purchase option allows baristas to upload up to 10 gift cards in a single transaction:
- Tap Gift Card → Purchase Physical Gift Cards → Bulk Purchase.
- Enter the gift card amount.
- Swipe or enter the code for each card.
- Tap Finish to add them to the cart.
- Complete checkout.
Paying with a Gift Card
Customers can pay in three ways:
1. Physical Gift Card — Rewards Member
- Customer enters their Rewards phone number.
- Select Gift Card as the payment method.
- Customer enters tip.
- Swipe the card or enter the 12-digit code to complete payment.
2. Physical Gift Card — Non-Rewards
- Customer selects No Thanks on the loyalty screen.
- Select Gift Card as the payment method.
- Customer enters tip.
- Swipe the card or enter the 12-digit code.
3. Paying with Rewards Balance (Digital)
- Customer enters their Rewards phone number.
- Select Pay with Balance.
- Customer enters tip.
- Customer enters the 4-digit PIN sent via SMS or found in the Joe Wallet app.
Converting a Physical Gift Card to Rewards
Customers can link a physical gift card to their Rewards profile to order ahead or pay digitally:
- Enter phone number at checkout.
- Pay using the physical gift card.
- Follow the prompt to link the balance to the Rewards account.
Applying a Discount to a Gift Card Purchase
- Start either an Individual or Bulk Purchase.
- Swipe or enter the card number.
- Tap Discount and enter the amount.
- Complete checkout.
🔔 Additional Things to Know
- Unique 12-Digit Code: Each gift card comes with a unique 12-digit code for identification.
- One-Time Use Physical Cards: Physical gift cards are for one-time use only.
- Transaction Fees: A transaction fee is charged only on the initial loading of funds onto the card. No fees are charged when customers use their gift card balance in your shop. Since you receive the funds upfront, gift card payments simply reduce the ledger balance.
- Account Merging: Customers can merge their accounts with their gift cards by entering their phone number at checkout. When a gift card is used, its balance automatically associates with the customer’s phone number and appears in their Rewards balance.
- Split Payment Option: Gift card payments support a credit/debit card split payment experience for Rewards members who have opted in or confirmed their accounts. This allows the gift card balance to be fully used and brought down to $0.
- Uploading Gift Cards to Joe Wallet: To upload a physical gift card to the Joe Wallet app, customers need the physical card, the 12-digit code, and the 3-digit CVV.
