The Cash Till feature in the Joe Point of Sale helps owners/managers/baristas efficiently track daily cash sales and generate a Closing Balance Report for accurate end-of-day reconciliation and cash deposit records.

Opening the Cash Till
To process cash transactions, baristas must open the till at the start of their shift. Here’s how:
- Tap the Cash Drawer icon in the left-hand menu to access the Till Management tab.
- Tap Open Register.
- Enter the following details:
- Starting Cash Balance
- Name of the opening barista
- Any relevant notes
- Tap Open Cash Till to begin tracking cash transactions for the shift.
Closing the Cash Till
To close the till at the end of the shift and print a summary report:
- Return to the Till Management tab and tap Close Cash Till.
- Count the cash in the drawer and enter the Actual Cash in Till, along with any notes.
- Tap Close Till & Print to:
- View a Till Summary for the day
- Print the Close Till Balance Report
Require Cash Till (before processing orders)
The Cash Till is an optional feature in Joe POS. However, if you'd like to require the cash till to be opened before any orders can be processed, you can enable this setting by following the steps below:
To Enable "Require Cash Till":
- Navigate to the Settings tab in the POS.
- Select the Features tab.
- Toggle ON the option for Require Cash Till.
Once enabled, the POS will prompt staff to open the cash till before processing any transactions.
Enable Automatic Cash Drawer Opening
To ensure your cash drawer opens automatically after a cash transaction, you'll need to properly connect the hardware and enable the feature in your POS.
Hardware Setup:
- Connect the printer cable to your receipt printer.
- Connect the printer to the POS via USB, Bluetooth (BT), or Ethernet, depending on your hardware configuration.
POS Setup:
- Go to the Settings tab.
- Select the Features tab.
- Toggle ON the option for Require Cash Till.
- Tap the three-dot menu (⋯) and select Test Print and Open Drawer to confirm everything is working correctly.
