Release Notes — October 2026
Released October 14, 2026 · For patrons and partner merchants
This release gives Partners more control over taxes, menus and tidies up the ordering experience for patrons. Alongside the new tools, it refines the dashboard view, the app, and text-message notifications.
Scope: New merchant tools (category taxes, bulk menu editing, payroll visibility) plus a broad reliability pass.
Who this affects
Every Partner and Patron. A few items depend on your account:
-
New menu editor — bulk menu actions, modifier group renaming, and the modifier price fix are part of the new menu editor.
- Reports — if your Reports menu already has a Growth tab that opens on Growth Attribution, the reports change below doesn't affect you.
What's new at a glance
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| "Can I charge a different tax rate on some categories?" | Yes. You can now create named tax rates per store and assign one to each menu category. Receipts show a breakdown by tax. |
| "Editing a big menu one item at a time takes forever" | New. In the new menu editor you can select many items and publish, hide, archive, move, reprice, or add a modifier group in one step — with undo. |
| "Exporting my menu failed or timed out" | Fixed. Menu exports now run in the background and give you a download link when ready, even for very large menus. |
| "Why isn't an employee showing up in payroll?" | New, for shops on Joe Payroll. The team list shows each employee's payroll readiness, and the payroll page lists who is missing from the current pay period and why. |
| "Modifier prices looked wrong after I typed them in" | Fixed. In the new menu editor, modifier prices save and display exactly as typed. |
| "I added a new Owner but they couldn't log in" | Fixed. Newly added roles are active right away. |
| "My Reports menu looks different" | If your shop wasn't on the newer reports yet, it is now: a refreshed Growth tab and a new Accounting tab replace the older Growth, Banking, and All Transactions reports. Shops already on them see no change. |
| "The till report said no till was open when one was" | Fixed. Till and end-of-night reports now always show current numbers. |
| "My cart listed the same drink three times" | Improved. Identical items are grouped into one row with a quantity control. |
| "I got a text saying I earned 0 points" | Fixed. That message is no longer sent when an order earns no points. |
| "My favorite order disappeared" | Fixed going forward. Favorites now survive when your shop updates its menu. |
For Patrons
Cleaner cart
Adding the same drink more than once used to list each one on its own row. Identical items are now grouped into a single row with a simple + / − control to change the quantity.
Favorites stay put when your shop updates its menu
When a shop refreshed or copied its menu, some saved favorites could vanish from your list. Favorites are now kept and matched to the updated menu.
Known limit — no historical fix. Favorites that disappeared before this release are not restored. Re-saving the order as a favorite will bring it back.
Related: "order your usual" suggestions no longer get stuck when an item or option has been removed from the menu.
Suggestions match what the shop sells today
"You might also like" and featured items occasionally showed drinks from a shop's old menu, or items the shop had turned off. Suggestions now come only from the shop's current, available menu.
Consistent drink sizes and default options
The size picked by default for a drink could differ depending on where you were looking. The default size is now the same everywhere, and item previews show the shop's default options.
Coming back after deleting your account
If you deleted your account and later tried to sign up or log back in with the same phone number, it could fail. That now works as expected.
If you couldn't get back in with your old number, please try again.
Fewer confusing text messages
- No more "You earned 0 points!" texts after orders that don't earn points.
- Gift card transfer confirmation texts, at shops that send them, arrive reliably.
Email notifications
Accounts without an email address on file no longer interfere with email notification settings.
Small fixes
- Copying a share link works on iPhone (Safari).
- Loading animations play smoothly and load faster.
- Store pages handle unusual links more gracefully instead of showing an error.
- When a shop charges more than one kind of tax, your cart and receipt list each one separately.
For Partner Merchants
Category-based taxes NEW
You can now manage taxes per store from Manager → Settings → Taxes:
- Your current sales tax rate stays the store's default — nothing changes until you add more.
- Add named tax rates (for example, a different rate for prepared food) and assign one per menu category.
- Receipts and order totals list each tax separately.
Faster menu editing NEW
In the new menu editor:
- Bulk actions — select items (or everything a filter is showing) and publish, unpublish, archive, move to another section, add a modifier group, set availability, adjust prices, or restore. You'll see a confirmation of exactly how many items will change, per-item results, and an undo.
- Rename modifier groups in place, without rebuilding them.
Modifier prices save correctly FIXED
In the new menu editor, prices typed into the modifier editor could be stored at the wrong amount (for example, $1.51 saved as $151.00), and imported prices could display incorrectly. Prices now save and display exactly as entered.
Known limit — no historical fix. This fix prevents the issue going forward. If a modifier price on your menu looks off, open it and re-save the correct amount, or contact support and we'll check your menu.
Menu export that finishes FIXED
Exporting a large menu could time out or fail. Exports now run in the background — start the export, keep working, and a download link appears when it's ready.
Reports CHANGED
- The newer reports menu, rolled out to some shops in earlier releases, is now on for everyone. If you already had it (a Growth tab that opens on Growth Attribution, plus an Accounting tab), nothing changes for you.
- If you didn't have it yet, your Reports menu changes:
- The Growth tab now holds Growth Attribution, Cost of Marketing Influenced Sales, Patron Acquisition, Marketing Revenue, and Loyalty Balance. It replaces the older Growth tab (Loyalty Revenue, New Loyal Customers, Promotions & Discounts).
- The Banking tab is retired. Payouts by Arrival Date now lives under the new Accounting tab, alongside Daily Sales, Fees Statement, Month End Close, Sales Tax Report, and more.
- All Transactions is no longer under Sales and Summary.
- Former owners keep access to their payout reports.
- Till, sales summary, and end-of-night reports always show live numbers — no more "no till open" right after opening one, or cash-ins missing for a few seconds.
Team and access
- Newly added roles (including a new Owner) are active immediately — no more toggling a role off and on to let someone log in.
- Owners and managers can update a barista's PIN from the POS, including those set up at the company level, and get a clear message if something goes wrong.
Payouts
The account holder name and account type you enter for your bank account now save to your payout account.
Payments at the counter
Payments below the $0.50 minimum (for example, a small gift card charge) now show a clear message naming the minimum, instead of an unexplained error.
Dashboard polish
- Going back from an order (or any detail page) keeps your list filters.
- Copy-to-clipboard buttons work again.
POS settings transfer
Support for moving a device's POS settings to another device with a short code. This becomes available with the matching POS app update.
What stayed the same
- No changes to how reward or loyalty points are earned.
- No changes to existing tax amounts — category taxes apply only once you set them up.
- No changes to card processing fees or payout timing.
- No changes to the checkout flow beyond the cart quantity control.
- The POS app itself isn't updated by this release — POS app updates are announced separately.
