We’re excited to announce the release of our SMS Receipt feature — a long-requested addition from our partners. This initial version allows baristas and managers to quickly send digital receipts via text message directly from the Joe Point of Sale system.
Whether a customer is requesting a receipt for business expenses, your receipt printer is down, or a guest simply prefers a digital copy, SMS Receipts make it easy to fulfill that request on the spot.
✅ Use Cases for SMS Receipts
Here are a few common scenarios where this feature will come in handy:
- A customer needs a receipt for business or reimbursement purposes.
- The receipt printer is offline, and a digital option is needed.
- The customer prefers to receive a paperless/digital receipt.
💡 How to Send an SMS Receipt
1. From the Active Order Management Screen
- Navigate to the Order Management tab on your Joe Point of Sale screen.
- Tap the ellipsis button (...) on the relevant order.
- In the dropdown menu, select "Send SMS Receipt."
- You will encounter one of two scenarios:
- Opted-In Customer: The phone number on file is used automatically.
- Non-Opted-In Customer: You’ll be prompted to enter the customer’s phone number manually before sending.
2. From the Completed Orders Screen
- Go to the Completed Orders section within your Order Management screen.
- Select the order for which you'd like to send a receipt.
- Tap the "Send SMS Receipt" button located on the order details view.

The customer will receive a text message that looks like this:

By clicking the link, the customer will be directed to a receipt page where they can view, download, or print the receipt directly from their device.
