The Transaction Overview report lives in the Banking section of Merchant Manager and provides a clear, itemized breakdown of all fees associated with processing payments and running your shop on Joe.
This report is designed to answer one simple but important question:
Where do my fees come from, and what am I actually paying for?
This is the updated reporting format you can find under Reports > Banking at manage.joe.coffee
Navigation
After logging into Merchant Manager at manage.joe.coffee:
- Select Reports from the left navigation rail
- Choose Banking from the dropdown
- Click Transaction Overview
This updated reporting format replaces bundled fee views with a more transparent, line-by-line breakdown.
Software Cost Percentage
The Software Cost % represents the total cost of running payments and loyalty through Joe, expressed as a percentage of revenue.
It is calculated using:
Payment Processing + Loyalty Investment + Mobile & Card Load Fees
This consolidated metric gives you a quick snapshot of your total platform costs.
Payment Processing
Payment processing includes the fees required to process credit card transactions through Stripe. These fees are now shown separately for full transparency.
What’s Included
- All in-person credit card transactions
- All online / mobile credit card transactions
Each fee shown in the table is passed directly to Stripe to cover card processing.
In-Person Credit Card Rates
-
In-Person Rate Fee
The percentage applied to the transaction (e.g., 2.4% or 2.75%). -
In-Person Flat Fee
The flat per-transaction fee (e.g., $0.10).
Example: 2.4% + $0.10
Online / Mobile Credit Card Rates
Online transactions are charged at a different rate because the card is not physically present, which carries higher risk for the processor.
Example rate: 2.9% + $0.30
- Online Rate Fee: 2.9%
- Online Flat Fee: $0.30
This difference is set by Stripe and is standard across the payments industry.
Growth Platform Fees
These fees support the ongoing development of the Joe platform and are shown separately for clarity. This section includes three columns:
App & Online Ordering
- Represents the portion of fees previously bundled as the Joe commission
- No change in cost—this is a visibility improvement only
Loyalty Investment
- The upfront amount collected to create the float required to reimburse rewards at checkout
Loyalty Card Upload
- A one-time 2.75% fee applied when customers load funds to a digital balance or physical gift card
- Once funds are loaded:
- Future payments using that balance incur 0% payment processing fees
- The full upload amount is passed through to the shop owner
How This Appears in Other Reports
These same fee details also appear in higher-level reports such as Payout Summary, where:
- Each transfer is listed as a line item
- The final transfer amount appears in the far-right column
This ensures consistency across all banking and payout views.
