1. Taxes on Tips and Promotions
- Tips: Shops are responsible for reporting and paying taxes on tips received by employees.
- Promotions: Shops do not pay taxes on promotions funded by Joe. Joe covers the cost of personalized promotions and reward redemptions.
2. Paying for Promotions and Loyalty Rewards
- Joe-funded promotions: Joe invests in personalized offers and sponsored promotions. These come out of Joe’s pocket, and you’ll see reimbursements in reports labeled “Reward Reimbursement.”
- Loyalty program: The Joe loyalty program (e.g., spending $65 earns a free drink up to $6) is also covered by Joe, including sales tax on redemptions
3. Commission on Tips
- Yes, you pay processing fees on tips, because the processing rate is applied to the total ticket, including tips. This is similar to how credit card tips are normally processed.
4. Paying Baristas Tips
- How you distribute tips is up to you.
- Recommended method:
- Pool all tips.
- Divide by hours worked per barista.
- Add the resulting amount to each barista’s paycheck.
5. Calculating Reports for Specific Items
- Use Merchant Manager > Insights > Inventory.
- Filters let you select specific dates, items, and sales to generate reports.
