Maximizing Sales with Featured and Upsell Items on joe

Up-selling is a proven way to increase average ticket size in coffee shops and foodservice businesses. As former baristas, we know how important it is to present customers with tempting options at the right time. Featured Items in the joe app make this process effortless by promoting select products automatically, giving your store a boost in sales.

What Are Featured Items?

Featured Items are select products highlighted within your store on the joe app. You can feature up to two items per category, including Hot Drinks, Cold Drinks, Food, and any additional menu categories. Highlighting the right items can help drive sales by:

• Showcasing signature drinks or bestsellers
• Encouraging impulse purchases for food items like pastries
• Promoting seasonal or limited-time offerings

Adding high-quality, visually appealing photos can further increase the likelihood of customers choosing these items.

Applicable Checkout Upsell Items

Applicable Checkout Upsell Items are items shown to customers at checkout to encourage them to add more to their order.

Benefits:

• Help increase total order value
• Promote popular, high-margin, or seasonal items
• Make it easy for customers to discover recommended items

Where Featured Items Appear

Your Featured Items appear in two key locations within the app:

1. Shops Near You – Customers browsing nearby shops will see your featured items first, making it easier to attract new and returning customers.
2. Menu Categories – Items appear within their respective categories, prompting impulse purchases and encouraging larger orders.

How to Set Up Featured and Upsell Items in joe

1. Log in to your joe Merchant Manager.
2. From the left-hand menu, select the Menu tab.
3. Navigate to the Feature & Upsell Items tab.
4. Click the See Details Featured/Upsell dropdown to view available categories. You can also collapse categories to hide them for easier navigation.
5. To edit items, click the pencil icon:
   • For Featured Items, select up to 2 items per category (Cold Drinks, Hot Drinks, Food).
   • For Checkout Upsell Items, select up to 8 items to promote at checkout.
6. To deleting current featured and upsell items, click the trash bin icon:
7. Save your selections to apply the changes to your store.
