1. Download the App
- Go to the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android)
- Search for joe Merchant PLUS and install the app
- If using a Square Register, install joe Merchant PLUS on a secondary tablet
2. Prepare Your Device
- Connect your iPad or Android tablet to a reliable Wi-Fi network
- iPad only:
- Go to Settings → Display & Brightness → Auto-Lock
- Select Never to keep the app active for mobile orders
3. Sign In
- Open joe Merchant PLUS
- Tap Get Started
- Sign in using your joe Merchant email and password
4. Set Up Your Store Device
- Select your store location
- Name the device using a clear format, for example:
“[Your Shop Name] joe device” - Select Point of Sale – Barista Facing
- Tap Continue
✅ Device setup is complete. You can now:
- Accept mobile orders
- Process refunds
- Update inventory
- Make menu changes
⚠️ All refunds, inventory edits, and menu updates must be completed in the joe Merchant PLUS app.
5. Enable “Always Online” in Merchant Manager
This feature ensures your shop is alerted if a mobile order isn’t accepted.
- Log in to Merchant Manager using Google Chrome
- Go to Settings → Storefront → Edit Shop
- Verify your phone number by completing the automated call
- Toggle Always Online ON
- Click Apply
📞 Your shop will receive a call if an order isn’t accepted in time.
6. Integrate joe with Square
Integrating joe + Square allows your joe mobile orders to sync directly with your Square system for inventory and reporting.
- In Merchant Manager, go to Settings → scroll to the bottom then Link Square Account
- Log in to Square
- You'll be redirected to the Square login page.
- Enter your Square credentials and grant permission for joe to connect.
- After approval, you'll be automatically redirected back to joe Merchant Manager.
- Assign the correct Square store:
- Settings → Stores → Edit Details → Settings
- Scroll down to the Square store dropdown.
- Select the correct Square location and click Save
Your joe account is now connected to Square, enabling smoother order syncing and sales tracking.
Enable Notifications for Square
After linking your joe and Square accounts, update your device and app settings to ensure your team receives sound alerts and push notifications for every new mobile order.
Enable Notification in Device Settings
- Open Settings → Square → Notifications
- Enable:
- Allow Notifications
- Sounds
- Badges
Enable Order Alerts in the Square App
- Open Square
- Go to More → Settings → Orders → Alerts
- Toggle Allow notifications ON
🔔 Your team will now receive real-time order alerts.
⚠️ Need to Unlink Square?
If you ever need to disconnect your Square integration:
- Scroll to the bottom of the page.
- Click the orange “Unlink” button in the bottom-right corner.
