In-person Payment Options

There are 4 payment options for in-person transactions, including credit/debit, cash, gift card, and paying with a digital gift card balance. In this article we'll walk through all 4 payment processing options.


Cash Payment

  1. At check out, the barista will choose Cash as the payment method for the order
  2. The customer will be prompted to input their phone number to claim rewards if the have not done so yet
  3. A Cash modal, with the total transaction will open. Barista can choose dollar $5, $10, $15, $20, $50, exact total, or manually input . After choosing dollar amount, the modal will show the required change baristas should give.
  4. After giving change and payment is complete, the order will be moved to an active order on the Order Status Screen


Credit/Debit Payment

  1. At checkout the barista will choose Credit/Debit button as the payment method for the order
  2. The customer will be prompted to input their phone number to claim rewards, as well as tip on the loyalty screen facing them
  3. Using the white card reader, customer can insert, tap, or swipe their card to process payment
  4. Payment is complete and the order will be moved to an active order on the Order Status Screen

Paying with a Physical Gift Card

  1. At checkout, the barista taps the Gift Card button as the payment method for the order
  2. The customer will be prompted to input their phone number to claim rewards, as well as tip on the loyalty screen facing them
  3. Barista will swipe the physical gift card using the black universal card reader
  4. Payment is complete and the order will be moved to an active order on the Order Status Screen


Paying with a Digital Gift Card Balance


  1. At checkout, the customer enters their phone number on the loyalty screen facing them
  2. The barista now sees the customer profile associated to the order as well reward offerings and Gift Card Balance is listed 
  3. Barista selects as "Pay with Balance" as the payment method for the order
  4. On the customer screen, the customer will be prompted to tip, then asked to enter their unique 4-digit PIN number.
    1. joe will text the customer their PIN or they can find their unique 4-digit PIN in their joe Wallet as seen below
  5. After entering the PIN, payment is complete and the order will be moved to an active order on the Order Status Screen

Entering a Credit Card Manually

If for some reason a credit card is is not processing for payment, such as a chip reader error or tapped, baristas can manually enter a credit card using the following steps.


  1. At checkout, select the "..." ellipses button, followed by Manual Card Entry  in the payment method
  2. Input Credit Card Number, Expiration DateCVV, and Zip Code
  3. Tap Confirm
