Troubleshooting your Bluetooth Card Reader

If you're having issues with your Bluetooth card reader and encountering the error message "Order creation error; failed to create order, please try again. Failed to get client secret," this often indicates that the card reader is unable to establish a connection to the server. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot and resolve the problem.


  1. Unplug the Card Reader from the Cable: Start by disconnecting the Bluetooth card reader from the cable. This will reset the connection and help eliminate any physical connection issues.
  2. Power Cycle the Card Reader
    • Hold the Power Button: Press and hold the power button on the card reader until the lights on the device begin to flash sequentially in this order: 4, 3, 2, 1. This sequence indicates the device is going through a reset process.
    1. Tap the Power Button Once: this should power the card reader back on and establish a fresh connection.

After completing your troubleshooting, proceed to make a test charge.


**Important Note for Test Orders:** If you choose to test with an amount smaller than $0.60, be aware that the card reader will likely fail to process the transaction correctly. To avoid any complications, make sure that your test order is at least $0.60.
